Core Experiences

Fifteen years  teaching  teachers, parents, administrators, and students in a variety of school settings;  public and independent, large and small, of long standing and in their gestation, serving students in pre-K through University locally, regionally and internationally and working with community members in diverse human resource organizations from Juvenile Justice Boards  and Community Foundations  while based in northern New Mexico, USA was an honor and privilege.  Connecting individuals, ideas and resources across the country and amongst diverse constituents,  contributing to the field broadly known as social and emotional learning , contributing to the academic and social and emotional culture and wellbeing of individuals and communities and  co-creating  enduring events across communities including ‘EQ Retreats’ at the local high school have been some of the highlights of the years in this field.

In this time period robust research studies have shown the enduring, positive impact of systematic social and emotional learning (SEL) on students social behavior and academic achievement and more importantly on long – term life outcomes including… see Weissberg)

It has been a privilege to be involved in the field during this time of rapid growth and research and to create sustained relationships with researchers, practitioners and educators working towards a shared goal: educating the heart and training the inner life of the mind in order to create a more peaceful and just future for all.

For the 15 months I have continued similar work but in the capacity as Director of Social and Emotional Learning and Mindfulness at the newly established United World College -Thailand.

I am now continuing my practice as an Independent Educational Consultant working with diverse educational and human service agencies whose values, intentions and practices are aligned with my own through South East Asia and the world.
